Being on the news was one of those dreams in the back of our head that we sorta never really thought would happen - and had never thought about trying to make it happen. But it did!! More than once!
It all started in the hospital when Kristine was nice and drugged up from chemo. We were told someone was going to come and talk with us to hear our story. Well, Inessa (#bestPRgirl) at UC Davis Medical Center showed up with her notebook along with the amazing Kevin and his camera. Our first 'interview' with them was like chatting with old friends, and it definitely helped us feel way less awkward in front of the camera. Next thing we knew, we were featured on UC Davis Health's website, and then CBS13, ABC10, ABC10 again, and the Sacramento Bee. Inessa rocks and went above and beyond in every way to get our story out to the world - and took it upon herself to make dang sure that it was told well by others too. Can't thank her enough! :)
And if all that epicness wasn't enough, the beautiful Christina Janes (Emmy award winning anchor) invited us to their CBS News station for a tour! We got to go with our cancer buddy Reese and her mom, Lisa, and it was so much fun. Christina has a heart of gold, is totally genuine, and is even sweeter than she seems on TV (yes, it is possible).
Thank you UC Davis Medical Center, Inessa (and Dorsey for letting her run with our story), Kevin, Christina at CBS13, Michael at ABC10, Gabrielle at ABC10, Sammy at the Sacramento Bee, and all else who were involved in making this dream come true! You were all so wonderful to meet, and we feel so blessed to have had all these opportunities.
